Outreach: Reaching Out in Love

God’s church doesn’t have a mission in the world.

God’s mission in the world has a church!

From The Book of Common Prayer, p. 855

What is the mission of the Church?

The mission of the Church is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.

How does the Church pursue its mission?

The Church pursues its mission as it prays and worships, proclaims the Gospel, and promotes justice, peace and love.

At Saint Andrew’s we are beginning to understand that God’s Church exists to be the hands, feet and heart of God at work in the world.  Therefore everything we do as a community is in service to God’s mission.

Our congregation has discerned a call to serve God’s mission in three particular areas: local hunger relief, creating ‘free family fun’ opportunities in Grafton, and developing friendships with homeless and at-risk adults in Worcester. We do this by working in partnership with other organizations that serve the greater Grafton area: Community Harvest Project, the Nelson Library and Worcester Fellowship.

In each of these areas there are a variety of ways to serve God by serving others. Whether we’re planting potatoes to sharing sandwiches to painting faces at the Christmas party, our desire is to connect others to the love of God.

The Active in Mission (A.I.M.) Group coordinates the mission initiatives in our congregation and is always listening for where God might be calling us to join him in mission next!
